SIMON FRENCH
Simon French wrote and published his first novel, Hey Phantom Singlet, while still a high school student. Since then he has written a number of highly acclaimed books which have been published around the world and won many awards. All We Know was the CBCA Older Readers’ Book of the Year in 1987, and Change the Locks a CBCA Honour Book in 1992.

His most recent novel, Where in the World, won the 2003 NSW Premier’s Literary Award for Children’s’ Literature, was shortlisted for the 2003 CBCA Book of the Year for Younger Readers, was long listed for the 2003 Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize and was nominated to the IBBY Honour List in 2004.
Simon is married to the illustrator Donna Rawlins and together they have published two picture books, Guess the Baby and What Will You Be. He has spent many years as a teacher in suburban and rural NSW and his books draw on his classroom experience. He lives on a farm on the outskirts of Sydney.
'Simon French has an enviable reputation ... his novels are well worth the wait. The subtle understatement of French's prose should not be underestimated.' (Magpies Magazine)
